Rapsody is back with a new track that is simultaneously a call to arms, an indictment of America, a message of hope – all compacted in an amazingly uplifting song. The track, called “Fire,” references the stunning (but not too stunning, this is America, after all) victory of hate, white supremacy, sexism, and white nationalism’s last stand as embodied in the ugly blob of orange xenophobia and grotesque synthetic hair composed of white fragility that is Donald J. Trump. A few months back it was announced that the North Carolina rapper signed to Roc Nation. “Fire” was produced by Kash, Khrysis, and 9th Wonder. Rapsody begins the track by saying “Joy coming in the morning. The sun rise tomorrow no matter how dark the night is. You feel me, right?” Rapsody continues, as the immaculately produced beat drops, “We gon still be alright, joy come in the morning/ we just gotta last for the night/ them mask come off tonight/ don’t matter who in the big house/ we still gon march and fight/word to the people/whaddup.” And make sure to listen on for a crazy switch up in the beat.
