Masta Ace YBI (Young Black Intelligent) video

Second single off Masta Ace's New Album "The Falling Season" Produced by Kic Beats Video directed by Paris Pre-order links for "The Falling Season" available below: Vinyl, CD & Tape: http://bit.ly/Masta_Ace-The_Falling_Season iTunes:http://bit.ly/Masta_Ace-The_Falling_Season_iTunes Bandcamp: https://mastaace.bandcamp.com/album/the-falling-season

Masta Ace premieres a new video for the song “Young Black Intelligent.” Directed by Parris, the song gets a powerful visual treatment of two inner city youths at a important cross-road in their lives. As the song portrays the two friends just want to enjoy their teens without succumbing to the perils of the "hood," but the "hood" doesn’t make that easy!

Produced by Kic Beats and featuring chorus vocals from Pav Bundy, horns from the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and a spoken word section from Chuck D, the song is taken from Masta Ace’s recently released album The Falling Season.

A concept piece, the album is framed around Masta Ace’s years at Sheepshead Bay High School in Brooklyn in the early 80’s. “Young Black Intelligent” was the first song he wrote for the album and was “in a nutshell about my life at the age of 14 growing up in Brownsville, Brooklyn, in the projects.” At that age the choices he and some of his childhood friends made ended up defining their entire lives. As he relates about some of those friends “right now guys are just getting home from 20, 25, 30 year bids because when I went away to college a bunch of them went away to jail.” Check the exclusive Masta Ace/Drums and Ammo interview HERE

Rare Interview With Madlib At The Red Bull Music Academy

Since the early '90s, the reclusive Madlib has been producing music at a relentless pace. Whether he's working with artists like Freddie Gibbs, MF Doom or Erykah Badu, collaborating with the late J Dilla, or working under one of his own aliases, like the drugged out party creature Quasimoto, Madlib has carved out his own idiosyncratic corner in the massive hip-hop universe.

The Red Bull Music Academy Festival New York releases the video from their rare interview with reclusive producer Madlib.

Since the early ’90s, Madlib—AKA Otis Jackson, Jr—has been producing music at a relentless pace. Whether he’s working with artists like Freddie Gibbs, MF Doom or Erykah Badu, or collaborating with the late J Dilla, Madlib has carved out his own idiosyncratic corner in the massive hip-hop universe.

Chairman Mao coaxed him out of his studio for a rare discussion as part of the Red Bull Music Academy Festival New York. They spoke about Prince, the importance of doing taxes, the death of his Quasimotoalter ego, how he manages to stay so prolific even after having kids, collaborating with Kanye West and his love of industrial music.

Mara Hruby – “Cry Me A River Pt. II” [Official Video]

"Archaic Rapture" is available on iTunes : http://apple.co/21QJ55r The debut single and fiery torch song cover "Cry Me A River," from the Bay Area, CA native singer-songwriter Mara Hruby, is just a puzzle piece to her emotionally drenched EP entitled 'Archaic Rapture' that released in 2014.

Bay Area songstress Mara Hruby celebrates the two-year anniversary of her 2014 Archaic Rapture EP with the official video for “Cry Me A River Pt. II” directed by Dr. Woo of Light Up Film. The pair reprise their work on the video for Part I. Bringing an emotionally dense and deeply personal story full circle, Hruby answers questions left at the end of the first chapter.

This video is a visual representation of all that lingered within Ms. Hruby at the time of her first heartbreak prior to her EP being recorded. Shot and Directed by Dr. Woo of Light Up Film, you are able to take a look into the private heart of the singer who lost a love she once believed in. Shot in Ms. Hruby’s childhood home in Oakland, you get to see a side of her that has always remained private. “This is a video to remind young women that we can get past any obstacle relating to matters of the heart if we simply allow our natural emotions to flow instead of denying ourselves that needed process to heal.” says Ms. Hruby.

Check the footage below to watch the video for “Cry Me A River Pt. II” Purchase the Archaic Rapture EP via iTunes. Get more on Mara Hruby via marahruby.com.
